Issues Addressed by Service Release 2:
  • Key Value Generation Problem
An issue may result regarding key value generation when creating some types of entries. Entries may not be saved to the database. This issue may appear in the following areas: Favorite Lists; Import Catalogs; Saved Searches; Graphing Catalogs; Sales and Marketing Teams; Macros; Outlook Synchronization; MaxExchange Remotes; Portal Logins; Column Setups; and Strategies. Users may also have problems logging into the web portals.

This issue affects Maximizer Enterprise 9 SQL CRM/eCRM, and MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9.

  • Table User-Defined Fields Sort Order
When a database was converted from Maximizer Enterprise 8 to Maximizer Enterprise 9, table user-defined field items no longer appeared sorted alphabetically.

  • Improvements and Support Added for Products
Maximizer was updated to include the following:
    • Improvements to Microsoft Fax services and support for Microsoft Fax printing.
    • Support and improvements for Novell GroupWise 7
    • Support and improvements for Lotus Notes 7

  • Maximizer Closes Due to Mandatory Field
When the Close Date field for opportunities was a mandatory field, as specified in Preferences, Maximizer would close if the field was left blank when saving an opportunity.

  • ACT! 2005/2006 and ACT! Premium for Workgroups 2005/2006
The following issues occurred in ACT! 2005/2006 and ACT! Premium for Workgroups 2005/2006:
    • When importing data from ACT!, phone labels were not imported.
    • Appointments imported from ACT! appeared one hour ahead of the scheduled appointment in ACT!. For example, an appointment booked for 1:00 PM in ACT! appeared to be scheduled for 12:00 PM in Maximizer.
    • If an appointment for a Contact had a blank Regarding field in ACT!, the import of appointments process stopped, causing any remaining appointments for the Contact to not be imported. Although this no longer occurs, note that appointments with blank Regarding fields are not imported.

  • Backup and Restore from Floppy Disk
When performing a backup of Maximizer Enterprise 8 data and restoring to Maximizer Enterprise 9 through a data conversion from a floppy disk, the Address Book did not contain any data.

  • Sorting in the Company Library
Documents and notes created in a version of Maximizer prior to version 9 were sorted separately from documents/notes created in version 9; the later version documents/notes were sorted underneath the documents/notes created with earlier version of Maximizer rather than in alphabetical order.

  • Templates Not Sent to Address Book Entries
When a template using a Microsoft Word macro was created and sent out to a group of Address Book entries using a mail merge, only the first entry in the list would receive the email. The template was also sent to the entry multiple times.

  • Saving in Edit Mode Caused Maximizer to Close
Under certain circumstances, saving an Address Book entry in Edit mode caused Maximizer to close.

  • Maximizer Dialog Box Remained Open
When printing a Column Report to email, the Maximizer dialog box (Sending Report to Email System) remained open.

  • Foreign Characters in User ID Report
When printing a User ID report to Microsoft Word or HTML format, foreign characters appeared in the report.

  • Date Comparison Issue in OrderDesk
When adding new orders or when importing a .MEC file (ecBuilder email order file), OrderDesk stopped responding.

  • Database Hook Support
The Database Hook available in the Customization Suite is now supported for both Pervasive.SQL and Microsoft SQL.

  • Opportunity Table User-Defined Field Values
When the value of a table user-defined field value was updated for an opportunity, the value in the User-Defined Fields tab was not updated in column setups; the value was blank.

  • Search for Phone Numbers by All Fields
When searching for phone numbers with a wild card using the Search > All Fields functionality, the wrong phone numbers were returned. For example, if you entered (604)* as the search criteria, phone numbers with 604 at the end of the number were returned.

  • Search for Entry Type in Employee Portal
When searching for a specific Address Book entry type (Company, Contact, or Individual) in the Employee Portal, all entry types were returned rather than just the specified type.

  • Runtime Error for Assigned Case in Employee Portal
A runtime error occurred when assigning a user to a case in Employee Portal. The "Notify the assigned user by email" option also became selected.

  • Follow-Up Task Not Logged
Creation notes were not logged when creating follow-up tasks.

  • Exporting Case Values to Excel
When the billable time, billing rate, and case fee values were less than one, exporting the information to Excel from a column setup caused the values to not be displayed properly.

  • Cases without Follow-Up Deadlines in Portals
Cases without follow-up deadlines did not appear in the My Cases or All Cases lists in any of the portals.

  • Refresh Causes Setup Loss in Dashboard
Performing a refresh of Dashboard indicators caused the properties of the indicators in the current dashboard setup to be reset.

  • Blank Elapsed Time for Case
If a case was resolved exactly one hour after its creation time, the elapsed time was shown as blank in the Employee Portal, and an error was shown in the other portals.

  • Exception Error on Notes Tab in Employee Portal
In Employee Portal, when you assigned, resolved, or escalated a case with the Notes tab open, an exception error occurred.

  • Meeting Acceptance Response in Outlook
Invited users were unable to accept a meeting request in Outlook after synchronizing with Maximizer.

  • Search by Range Using All Fields
When searching for first name using the Search > All Fields functionality, not all entries were returned.

  • Product/Services and Category Fields in Upgrade
When upgrading an Address Book from Maximizer Enterprise 8 to Maximizer Enterprise 9, the Products/Services and Category fields were not upgraded; the fields appeared blank.

  • Missing Option from Search by Notes Dialog Box
The "Retrieve entries that do not match this criteria" option was missing from the Search by Notes dialog box in the Address Book window.

  • CurrentRecord Function for Refresh
RefreshCurrentRow for the CurrentRecord object is a new function allowing you to refresh the current record in the Address Book window rather than using the RefreshAllWindows function, which refreshes all windows.

  • Support for OLE Functions in Microsoft .NET
Support for calling functions from Microsoft .NET has been enhanced.

Maximizer Enterprise 9 Service Pack 1 for Service Release 1 - Series 1618
Released on May 30th, 2006

Type of Release: Service Pack
PSN Prefix: N/A
Files Modified: MaAbout.dll, Maaccess.dll, MaMerge.dll, Import.exe, MaxApp.exe, Mxstr32.dll, MaxImport.dll, Maxexsql.dll, Melib.dll, Spdm.exe, Maximizer.External.dll, MeciDataMAPI.dll, MxzBtr32.dll, MxzBtr32ONonIndexed.dll, MxAcFWrp.dll , MxAccnt.dll, MeciDataMaximizer.dll
Issues Addressed by Service Pack 1 for Service Release 1:
  • Import Issues with ACT! 2005/2006
The following issues occurred with an ACT! 2005/2006 import:
    • When notes were imported into Maximizer from ACT!, the date of the note was the date the note was created, not the displayed date from ACT!.
    • Tasks and appointments that were marked as complete in ACT!, were not marked completed in Maximizer after the import.
    • The Ticker Symbol, Last Results, and Phone Label fields were not imported to Maximizer from ACT!.

  • Improved ACT! Import Process for ACT! 2005/2006
Previously, a direct import of ACT! data was not supported. The Maximizer Import utility has been improved to support the direct import of ACT! 2005/2006 data into an Address Book. The following requirements must be met in order to use this functionality:
    • you must be logged in as a Windows administrator
    • in Maximizer Enterprise, you must be logged in as the Master user
    • the ACT! database (SQL Server instance) must be on the computer where the import is being performed.

The new improved import process works differently from what is described in the Maximizer Enterprise version 9 Administrator's Guide, although the documented method is also valid. For information on the new process, see the following knowledge base article: How-To: Import ACT! 2005/2006 or ACT! Premium for Workgroups 2005/2006 database

  • X_ Characters Cause Issues with MTI
User-defined field names preceded by the letter X and an underscore were incorrectly associated with a Contact rather than the Company or Individual when using MTI (Maximizer Transfer Interface) for an import.

  • Out of Memory Message
Users received an "out of memory" message when using Outlook Express or Outlook as their default email client. The issue occurred when a user attempted to open an email.

  • First and Last Name Order Reversed
When the default Full Name order was set to "Last, First" in Outlook, first and last names would be reversed after contacts were synchronized from Maximizer.

  • Recurring All-Day/Multiple-day Appointment Transactions
Recurring all-day or recurring multiple-day appointments created in Outlook and synchronized with Maximizer using Microsoft Outlook Synchronization or MaxSync for Microsoft Exchange caused unnecessary MaxExchange transactions.

  • Location for Appointments Does Not Appear
When a recurring appointment was created in Maximizer and then synchronized to Outlook, the Location field in the Outlook appointment dialog box was blank. The location appeared correctly in the tooltip when mousing over the appointment and in the calendar views.

  • Outlook Synchronization of Contacts
When a user had full access rights to a Maximizer Contact through user rights or group rights, but did not have read access rights through a group, the Contact would not synchronize with Outlook.

  • User ID Uniqueness Not Checked
Maximizer User ID uniqueness was not checked when new users were created and as a result user information could be overwritten.

  • Insert/Update in ODBC UDF_Table_Item Table
Insertion of records and updates to Name fields were not working properly for the ODBC UDF_Table_Item table (Pervasive databases).

  • Contact/Individual Conversion
When a Contact with associated records being stored in the Custom_Child table was converted to an Individual, the records in the table were not converted and were deleted. Similarly, the same issue occurred when converting an Individual to a Company or Contact.

  • Default Printer in a Citrix Environment
Under certain circumstances in a Citrix operating environment, the default printer for Maximizer was incorrect.

  • Opportunity Fields Now Full Access
The Opportunity.Cont_Client_Id and Opportunity.Cont_Cont_Number fields were read-only. This was an ODBC driver issue. The fields can now be inserted and updated.
Maximizer Enterprise 9 Hot Fix 2 for Service Release 1 - Series 1609
Released on March 8th, 2006

Type of Release: Hot Fix
PSN Prefix: N/A
Files Modified: MaxImport.dll, Import.exe, MaxApp.exe, Melib.dll, Spdm.exe, Maxexsql.dll, MXSTR32.DLL, Maximizer.External.dll, UpgradeTables8x-9x_AMGR.sql, MaAccess.dll, MaAbout.dll, MaMerge.dll, MaxImport.dll, Import.exe
Issues Addressed by Hot Fix 2 for Service Release 1:
  • When upgrading from Maximizer Enterprise 5, 6, 7, or 7.5 (Pervasive) to Maximizer Enterprise 9 (Pervasive), alphanumeric user-defined field values longer than 40 characters would be truncated to 40 characters after upgrade.

To resolve this issue, you must install this hot fix BEFORE UPGRADING YOUR MAXIMIZER ADDRESS BOOK TO VERSION 9. (Other issues described in this hot fix are resolved by this hot fix, even if this hot fix is installed after upgrading the Address Book.)

For more information about this issue, please refer to the following Knowledge Base article:
Conversion Truncates AlphaNumeric UDF Data at 40 Characters

  • When moving a Contact Address Book entry to a different Company or Individual Address Book entry, if the Contact had related records in the Custom_Child table, those Custom_Child records would be deleted instead of being kept with updated Client_Id and Contact_Number.

  • On Customer and Partner portals, a date comparison error occurred, which caused the following error message to appear:
This portal is currently either not enabled or is set for use with an invalid Maximizer Address Book. Administrators should modify their configuration file to enable. Try to login again later.

  • When the Maximizer Enterprise 9 import utility attempted to import a table user-defined field item that didn't already exist in the target Address Book, it would create the new item. However, if the item contained more than 30 characters, it would create the item in the target Address Book whether it already existed or not, resulting in duplicate items. This issue applies to importing text-format files only, such as tab-delimited or comma-separated values (.csv) import files.
Maximizer Enterprise 9 Hot Fix 1 for Service Release 1 - Series 1605
Released on January 30th, 2006

Type of Release: Hot Fix
PSN Prefix: N/A
Files Modified: MaAbout.dll, MaAccess.dll, MaMerge.dll, MaxApp.exe, Maxexsql.dll, MaxImport.dll, Melib.dll, MXSTR32.DLL, Spdm.exe
Issues Addressed by Hot Fix 1 for Service Release 1: MAXEXCHANGE REMOTE:
  • Under some circumstances, MaxExchange remotes would send an unusually large packet to the MaxExchange server. This large packet might have contained records that already existed in the Address Book on the server, and processing this packet on the server could create duplicate column setup records on both the server and the remotes. This issue has been resolved.
PHONE CALLS:
  • After opening the Phone dialog box through the Tools > Phone menu item or by clicking the Phone button on the toolbar, and then clicking the Dial button, the Previous and Next buttons would become unavailable after clicking the Hang Up button. This issue has been resolved.

  • While using the Phone dialog box to log a phone call, user-defined field values assigned through the User-Defined Fields following window were not added to the phone note. This issue has been resolved.
IMPORTING THIRD-PARTY DATA:
  • When importing data from ACT! 2005/2006 or ACT! Premium for Workgroups 2005/2006, history records and user-defined or custom fields from ACT! were not imported. This issue has been resolved.

  • When importing data from a SQL GoldMine database, calendar entries were not imported unless you imported the default GoldMine database called "goldmine". This issue has been resolved.
GENERAL:
  • Under some circumstances, when opening an Address Book entry in view mode, Maximizer Enterprise would terminate unexpectedly. This issue has been resolved.

GENERAL:

  • Installing this service release on a trial version of Maximizer Enterprise 9 increases the number of Maximizer Enterprise and Portal trial licenses to unlimited.

  • After restoring an Address Book on a Pervasive database, the size of the Mxzn.max, Mxztran.max, and Mxztran5.max files increased substantially. This issue has been resolved.

  • On a Maximizer Pervasive Workgroup server, a short time after running Microsoft Word and opening a new document, Word would prompt the user to save changes to the document. If the user clicked Yes, Word would close. This issue has been resolved.

  • Creating a new Address Book using a non-English version of Microsoft SQL Server would sometimes result in an error message and the new Address Book would not be created. This issue has been resolved.

USERS:

  • The pegboard sometimes would not display all users. This issue has been resolved.

  • After editing the default opportunity entry, the Contacts following window would no longer sort correctly. This issue has been resolved.

  • After creating an opportunity with a start date and close date, and then inserting the start date and close date merge fields into a Maximizer Word Processor document, the dates in the document would be merged as mm/dd/yyyy instead of dd/mm/yyyy. This issue has been resolved.

  • When the contact for an opportunity was changed, the strategy activities for that opportunity would remain associated with the original contact. This issue has been resolved.

CAMPAIGNS:
  • If the user added a fax or print activity to an Automated Campaign template from the Address Book window, rather than from the Campaigns window, and then inserted merge fields into the message body using Microsoft Word, the values of those merge fields would not be retrieved. This issue has been resolved.

  • When an automated fax campaign was created in Microsoft Word, the faxes sent to all campaign subscribers would contain the merge field values from the first subscriber. This issue has been resolved.

  • Under certain circumstances, the Maximizer Email Service authentication would generate an error message when sending automated email campaigns. This issue has been resolved.

APPOINTMENTS, ACTION PLANS, AND ACTIVITIES:
  • After combining or moving Address Book entries, related appointments, action plans, or activities were sometimes lost. This issue has been resolved.

  • After converting a contact to an individual or an individual to a company, action plans and activities were lost. This issue has been resolved.

  • Adding an appointment through the Activities tab set the default date to the date selected in the weekly calendar instead of the current date. This issue has been resolved.

  • If the Maximizer Print/Fax Service was running, and a user created an appointment and selected the Email Reminder checkbox, the Print/Fax Service would turn the email reminder off on its next cycle and the email reminder would not be sent. This issue has been resolved.
OUTLOOK SYNCHRONIZATION:
  • When the operating system time was set to a time zone in the southern hemisphere, such as "GMT +10:00 Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney" and when daylight saving time was in effect (between October and March), appointments synchronized from Maximizer Enterprise to Microsoft Outlook would be set one hour ahead in Outlook. This issue has been resolved.

EMAIL:
  • Support added for Novell GroupWise 6.5 email client.

  • When email messages contained an image in the message body, the image would not display when viewing the email in Maximizer, and the image would not be included when forwarding or replying to the email message. This issue has been resolved.

  • For email messages with attachments, users could not open attachments the first time an email message was opened, but after closing and reopening the email message, they could open attachments. This issue has been resolved.

  • When creating or updating an Address Book entry from an email message by dragging and dropping the email message to the Address Book window in Maximizer, the email address in the Address Book entry would not be in SMTP format. This issue occurred only with email messages received from internal users on a Microsoft Exchange Server. This issue has been resolved.

DOCUMENTS AND COMPANY LIBRARY:
  • Double-clicking a .bmp, .tif, or .tiff image in the Documents following window or Company Library would not open the image. This issue has been resolved.

DASHBOARD:
  • Displaying Dashboard in My Work Day would sometimes display an error message or cause Maximizer to stop responding. This issue has been resolved.

  • If SSL was enabled on the IIS server for the Kind and KindASP virtual directories, and MaConfig was changed to use https:// in the KIND_ASP url, the dashboard indicators would load but would not display any data. This issue has been resolved.

REPORTS:
  • The Reports > Crystal Reports menu supported a maximum of 50 sub-menus. This limit has been increased to 200.

IMPORTING:
  • In Maximizer Enterprise Pervasive, if a new Address Book was created in Maximizer rather than in Administrator, and then the user attempts to import from an ACT! 2005 or GoldMine corporate edition database, an error would occur. This issue has been resolved.

  • Some ACT! 2005 and GoldMine corporate edition import options were available in Maximizer Enterprise Pervasive Address Books, but those options applied to Maximizer Enterprise Microsoft SQL Address Books only. This issue has been resolved.

MAXEXCHANGE REMOTE ISSUE RESOLVED BY THIS SERVICE RELEASE

  • When the Start Date of an opportunity had been set manually in Employee Portal, the strategy could not be changed. This issue has been resolved.

EMPLOYEE PORTAL FOR WIRELESS PDAs:
  • In Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs, if the culture setting in the web.config file was changed to a value other than "en-US", the Month drop-down list for date user-defined fields would still use the en-US culture setting. This issue has been resolved.
