|
Maximizer issues resolved by this service release
- Custom reports and Maximizer reports created in Maximizer Crystal Reports Embedded Designer and Viewer could not be generated properly in Maximizer for an Address Book other than the Address Book in which the report was created.
- Values of the Category, Do Not Solicit By, Email address, and Website fields could not be modified.
- Performance degradation in the User-Defined Field tab and following window occurred when user-defined fields containing a large number of items existed for an Address Book entry.
- A General Protection Fault error occurred when corrupt user-defined field records were present in the Address Book. The problem was a result of the user-defined fields' Type_ID being the same as the Code_ID.
- Specific non-English characters were not displayed correctly in the Calendar and My Work Day windows.
- When using modified interface settings to display accented characters, errors occurred when using popup calendar windows.
- When attempting to view a custom report using objects stored in the Crystal Repository with the Crystal Reports Embedded Designer and Viewer, users received a message informing them the functionality was not supported by Maximizer.
- Searches using wildcard masks at the beginning and end of the search string (e.g., *abc*) failed to return the correct search results.
- Reports and labels would not print proper non-English characters when characters were not translated in the DSN.
- Some email messages between Microsoft Exchange Server user accounts were not delivered due to a display name-formatting problem.
- If the Customer Service window had not been opened, Maximizer would terminate unexpectedly when adding a case from the Address Book window.
- When a Close Date was entered for an opportunity in the Opportunity following window, the Projected Close Date was updated with the value, rather than the Close Date.
- When printing a Case Detailed Report, the currency symbol appeared incorrectly as a dollar sign regardless of the computer's regional settings.
- In the Maximizer Word Processor with a multiple-page document open in the print preview window, the editor would shut down when the Page Down key was pressed.
- OrderDesk orders were incorrectly grouped under the wrong Address Book entry in a Sales Report by Customer. This issue applies to Pervasive only.
Portal issues resolved by this service release
- When a user account was enabled for Portal login and disabled for Maximizer login, the user was unable to open Reporter from Employee Portal.
- Logins would fail for Customer and Partner Portal installations using firewall products with address translation enabled.
- In Employee Portal, attempting to save an entry without values for mandatory user-defined fields removed the Save button from the dialog box.
- The Main and Back buttons were missing from the Opportunities search result screen in Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs.
MaxExchange issues resolved by this service release
- When using the Email transport method, the HDR filenames that are created from incoming emails would always start from 0 or 1 (e.g., EDI00000.HDR or EDI00001.HDR), regardless of the real packet number.
- On the MaxExchange Server, packet generation would start processing as normal, but once it reached "Moving Transaction Records" or "Moving Refresh Library Records" or "Moving Refresh Resource Records", an application error, Access Violation in SPDM.EXE would occur.
- Under some circumstances, updating Address Book entries for opportunities would cause MaxExchange Server to terminate unexpectedly while processing packets.
- Under some circumstances, after processing incoming packets for a SQL database, some Address Book entries would not show up.
Reinstalling Service Release 4A Patch
If you have to reinstall the Maximizer Enterprise 8 Service Release 4A Patch, you must first fully uninstall the patch before it can be applied again. Use the Add/Remove Programs option in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall the patch.

|
Issues Fixed: |
- Search by All Fields Returns No Records When the Last Modified Date Range is One Day: Search by All Fields would return no records if the search used Last Modified Date as a search criterion and the date range was less than one day.
- Opportunities Window Scrolls Slowly When the Column Setup Contains Many UDFs: If the column setup being used in the Opportunities window contained multiple user-defined fields, the window would scroll very slowly. Scrolling performance has been improved.
- Problem Updating a Customer Service Case User-Defined Field Value using the SetCustomerServiceFieldValue OLE Function: Updating or inserting a user-defined field value for a customer service case by using the SetCustomerServiceFieldValue OLE function would not correctly update the value in Maximizer.
- Memory Issue: Performing multiple searches that returned large numbers of records would sometimes cause the computer to run out of memory.
- Problems Updating Some User-Defined Field Values: Under rare circumstances, changing a value of a user-defined field would sometimes cause other values in the user-defined field to be cleared.
- EMAILUSER Not Included in the Creator Drop-Down List: EMAILUSER was not listed in the Creator drop-down list in the Search by Notes dialog box or Custom Notes Filter Criteria dialog box.
- Maximizer/Outlook Calendar Synchronization Not Working with Some Outlook Profiles that Contain Corrupted Appointments.
- Incorrect Information in Appointment Notification Emails:
- After modifying an appointment to be a personal appointment, the appointment details in the notification email would show the appointment to be with an Address Book entry instead of as a personal appointment.
- Appointment notification emails would show resources as added or removed even though no change took place.
- Appointment notification emails would always include the message, "The following attendees do not have email addresses and have not received this notification", even when all attendees did have email addresses and did receive the notification.
- Incorrect Margins When Printing an Appointment Details Report to a Printer: When printing an appointment details report directly to a printer, the left and top margins would have to be increased in the report preferences.
- Phone Descriptions for Contacts Not Included in the Name/Address/Telephone Report: The phone descriptions for contacts would be omitted from the Name/Address/Telephone report when printing the report for Companies or Individuals and selecting "Print contacts".
- Phone Numbers Omitted from Some Reports: The Name/Address/Telephone report, as well as other reports that include name, address, and telephone details would sometimes omit some phone numbers from the report.
- Customer Service Column Report Prints Incorrectly: When printing a column report from the Customer Service following window, the report used the column headings from the Customer Service main window and column content from the Customer Service following window, resulting in mismatched column headings and content.
- Weekly Calendar Report Prints the Wrong Appointment Time: Printing a calendar report from the weekly view would print all appointments two hours ahead of the scheduled time.
- Unable to Use User-Defined Field Views in Crystal Reports: User-defined field views could not be used in Crystal Reports.
- Printing Appointments from the Calendar Prints the Current Date in the Title: When printing the daily calendar report for a day other than the current day, the report still had the current date in the title.
- Address Book Verification Utility Changes Document Creator to be Owner: If a document is owned by a group, the Address Book Verification utility would detect the document as being misplaced and would set the document creator to be the document owner.
- Problem Synchronizing Alternate Address Created by MaAccess: When creating a new contact with a new alternate address and selecting that address using MaAccess, subsequent synchronization with a MaxExchange Server would cause the contact's alternate address to become unselected on the remote.
In addition to the issues listed previously, this patch includes the following fixes to the eCRM SQL version of Maximizer Enterprise 8 Service Release 2:
- Customer, Partner, and Employee Portal Dialog Box Display Problems on Windows XP SP2: On computers running Windows XP Service Pack 2, portal dialog boxes would display a status bar that overlapped the bottom of the dialog box.
- Address Book Note Categories Appearing in the Customer Service Note Category List in Employee Portal: When editing a note for a customer service case in Employee Portal, the Category drop-down list contained Address Book note categories rather than customer service case note categories.
- Knowledge Base Article Number Not Updated in Maximizer: When resolving a customer service case in Employee Portal by selecting the "Create a draft knowledge base article from these details" option, the Article # field in the Case Resolution dialog box would not get updated in Maximizer.
- Appointment Day and Month Transposed in Employee Portal: In some situations, Employee Portal would not use the date format specified by the server, which resulted in the day and month of appointments being transposed. For example, November 4 would be interpreted as April 11.
- Dollar Currency Symbol in Employee Portal: Employee Portal would always display the dollar symbol regardless of the computer's regional settings.
- Scheduling Future Recurring Appointments in Employee Portal:
- Scheduling a recurring appointment for the future would display a conflicting appointment dialog box if another appointment was scheduled for the same time on the current date, even though no conflict existed.
- Scheduling a group recurring appointment for the future, when the appointment included locations or resources, the recurring appointment would not display the locations, resources, or attendees.
- Unable to Navigate Beyond First Page of Search Results in Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs: When a search in Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs returned more than one page of results, there was no way to navigate beyond the first page.
- Default Selections in the Search by Last Name Dialog Box in Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs: In the Search by Last Name dialog box in Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs, the Last Name, Company, Individual, and Show Phone Number checkboxes are now selected by default.
This patch also includes the following fixes to MaxExchange Synchronization Server 8 Service Release 2:
- Remote Terminates Unexpectedly When TIME Command is Mishandled by Firewall: If a MaxExchange Server was behind a firewall and the firewall didn't support the TIME synchronization command, then when the Remote would process its first received refresh it would terminate unexpectedly, regardless of whether the Remote was synchronizing its clock with the server or not.
- C++ Runtime Error in MaxExchange Server: When running MaxExchange Server as a service, a C++ runtime error may have occurred while processing packets.
Notes:
- Maximizer Enterprise 8 Service Release 2 - Series 1433 must be installed BEFORE installing this patch. Do not uninstall Service Release 2 before installing the patch.

- Reinstalling the Service Release 3 Patch: If you have to reinstall the Maximizer Enterprise 8 Service Release 3 Patch, you must uninstall the patch before it can be applied again. Use the Add/Remove Programs option in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall the patch.
- MaxExchange Synchronization Server Updates: This patch updates MaxExchange Synchronization Server Service Release 2 to MaxExchange Synchronization Server Service Release 3.
- Employee Portal Web.Config File: This patch replaces the Web.config file for Employee Portal and Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs. A backup file of the existing Web.config file will be created. This backup file will be called Web.config.SR2.bak and will reside in the same folder as the original Web.config file.

- VIM Improvements - A number of issues that appear when using VIM as the email system have been addressed as follows:
- The action of retrieving the list of email messages was very slow when a user refreshed or pressed the Deliver Now button.
- When a user tried to reply to an email from Maximizer, the reply email would not display the sender's email address properly.
- If a user replied to a saved email, the text "<>" would get added to the recipient's email address causing the message not to be sent properly.
- The Address Book entry column in the Email window did not show the corresponding Address Book entry.
- When an email message was dragged and dropped to the Address Book window and the email address of the target Address Book entry was updated or a new Address Book entry was created, the email address was entered incorrectly as the Address Book entry's name in addition to the entry's email address.
- If a user tried to delete email messages from the Maximizer Email window, email messages were removed from the list, but not actually deleted. The messages would reappear when a refresh was performed.
- Unable to open or compose email messages using the email provider's editor: When the Maximizer to Outlook Calendar Integration was used with the email features in Maximizer; a user was not able to open or compose messages using the email provider's dialog boxes. The Outlook.exe file stayed in memory causing issues opening and composing messages using the email provider's dialog boxes.

- Maximizer would stop responding if using Outlook Express: If Outlook Express was installed as the only email client and an email document was assigned to an Address Book entry with an attachment, opening the document and double-clicking on the attachment caused Maximizer to stop responding.
- Opening a table user-defined field: Opening a table user-defined field containing a large number of items in the User-Defined Fields following window caused Maximizer to stop responding.
- Calendar refresh problem in the weekly calendar view: If a user invoked a view of a future week using the weekly calendar view, and then switched to another window and then back to the weekly calendar view, appointments that were previously visible no longer appeared in the weekly calendar view. The issue occurred when the Calendar window was maximized and when non-working days were not shown.
- Appointment conflicts with free-form location: When creating an appointment with a free-form location, a conflict was reported when a user tried to save the appointment even though there were no appointments booked with that same free-form location.
- Large fonts in calendar causing exception: When using extra large fonts on Windows XP, attempting to open the calendar would cause the error "Exception: displayapp3".
- Graphing By State/Province not working: When graphing by State/Province, no graph was generated.
- Unable to run Crystal Reports if the Address Book was password protected in Pervasive: If using Pervasive, Crystal Reports could not be run if an Address Book was password protected. An Error 51- invalid owner name would appear.
Portals:
- Incorrect dialog box appearing in the Employee Portal: After pressing the Cancel button in the Address Book dialog box when adding a contact, opening the Address Book entry dialog box resulted in the Add Contact dialog box being invoked.

- Enhanced Security for Report Viewing: For reports created using Crystal Reports, users are only allowed to view reports that do not contain information related to a module to which the user does not have Read rights.
Administration:
- Accounting Access Rights and Notes Security: Accounting security includes access to Accounting functionality and the security of Accounting notes.
- Key Fields Preferences Page for Administrator Module: 'Key User-Defined Fields' have been renamed 'Key Fields'.
Integration and Customization:
- Address Book Hook for Employee Portal and Wireless Employee Portal: The new Address Book entry hook, implemented for both the Employee Portal and the Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs, enables programmers to replace or extend the actions that Maximizer Enterprise takes when users add or modify Address Book entries using one of the portals. This includes presenting a custom Address Book entry dialog window.
- Customization Suite Portal Guide Updated: The Customization Suite Portal Guide has been updated with all the information needed by business partners and third-party developers to customize and publish the Maximizer Enterprise 8 eCRM web portals.
- Improved ODBC Driver Support: The following tables can now be accessed using the ODBC driver:
- Partner details (Table: ABPartner; Field: Partner in Company, Individual and Contact)
- User roles (Roles included in the User_Details Table)
- Case UDFs (Combined_CSCase_User_Fields and S_UDFNAME)
- Campaign Subscribers (CampaignAccounts)
- Client Lead Status (U_LEAD_STATUS)
- Opportunity Partners (OPPPARTNERS)
- Updated Supported Products and Applications: The Maximizer Software Inc. website provides the most up-to-date list of supported products and applications. The web address is http://www.maximizer.com/support/products.html.
Installation & Licensing:
- MaxExchange Default License Change: MaxExchange includes a single user license by default, which enables administrators to configure a single-user MaxExchange remote site during Maximizer Enterprise installation without any additional administrative action.
- Multi-User Remote Licenses Synchronized: Maximizer Enterprise user licenses are synchronized so that the site's concurrent user license count is equal to the sum of all user licenses enabled across all remote sites. This permits users to move from one site to another without having to modify the new site's license count.
- Remote Workstation Local Data Folder Option: The administrator can select a local data folder for most remote workstations during installation.
- Single Accounting Link Installation for US and Canadian Editions of QuickBooks: The Maximizer Accounting Link Designed for Use with QuickBooks works with both US and Canadian editions of QuickBooks. Separate installs depending on the national edition of QuickBooks are not required.
- Trial Licensing: Maximizer Enterprise CRM Pervasive WorkGroup Trial version does not require a trial Product Serial Number (PSN). If no PSN is entered (or a trial PSN is entered - it is no longer required, but can still be entered), Maximizer Enterprise is automatically configured as a Trial version during installation for 30 days of use.
General Improvements:
- 'Description' Field Added to More Record Types: Documents and Templates now have Description fields. This enables users to determine the contents of the document and the purpose of the template without opening, or if you don't have the associated application.
- Merge Fields in Word and WordPerfect Support Long Names: UDF merge fields that have particularly long names or feature several levels of folders are now displayed in full in the Insert Merge Field dialog's new field name text box. The Insert Merge Field dialog has been updated for both Word and WordPerfect merge functionality.
- Updated Overview Page: Tasks and Appointment activities can be completed on the Overview page, using the new completed checkbox. Print buttons have been added to print each section independently.
Issues Fixed:
- Error restoring an Address Book in Pervasive: Error Code 25 on the Transaction Control file would occur while restoring a Pervasive Address Book.
- Documents not displayed properly in the Documents window: When adding a new Maximizer document using a template and setting the Owner to "MYUSERNAME", the document appeared in the Documents window; however, it disappeared after a refresh to the window.
- Incorrect Close Date being displayed in Opportunity: The close date was not properly displayed in the Status tab of an opportunity or in the Opportunity Column Setup view. It always showed the projected Close Date instead.
- Merge Field not working for Automated Campaigns: The "Name_and_Address" merge field did not work for Automated Campaign's activities.
- Slow when adding manual orders: Adding manual orders in an Address Book that contains a large number of orders would take a long time.
- Search by All Phone Numbers Issue: Search by All Phone Numbers failed to retrieve the correct records.
- Auto-signature not displayed properly: The Auto-signature did not have carriage returns when composing e-mail messages as HTML.
- Sending email did not work using Outlook 2002: When attempting to send packets to an email Remote using Outlook 2002, the email would fail to send. This issue has been resolved in MaxExchange.
- Address Book Folder Maintenance did not go off at the scheduled time: Previously, if you set a certain day of the week and time for the Address Book Folder Maintenance to go off when running MaxExchange as an application, when that time was reached, it would not start. It now obeys the time rule.
- UDF synchronization problems: In some scenarios, Table UDFs, Table Items and/or the selected Table Item for some Address Book and Opportunity entries did not synchronize correctly. The Address Book Verification Tool in Administrator should be run, followed by a Refresh to any affected Remotes.
- Synchronization Problems of Notes added via the Employee Portal: Notes entered through the Employee portal do not synchronize successfully to MaxExchange remotes and do not display the correct creator ID.
- Wrong icons appearing in the Customer Portal's Icon Bar: The Opportunity and Leads sections were incorrectly appearing in the Customer Portal's icon bar.
- Error when opening the Customer Service component: An error would sometimes happen when opening the Customer Service component from the Customer Portal's icon bar.
- Search Field list not displayed properly: In the Employee Portal, the incorrect list of search fields would appear in the Customer Service component.
- Portals license issue: Could not apply the correct number of licenses if using the Maximizer Portals.
- ODBC driver not appearing in the list: If the user installed Maximizer Enterprise 8 on a clean machine (without any previous version of Maximizer on that machine) for the first time, the "Maximizer ODBC Driver" and "Pervasive ODBC..." drivers would not show up in the 'ODBC Data Source Administrator>Drivers' list.
- ODBC driver truncating UDF table items: If the UDF table item has more than 29 characters, ODBC driver would truncate it to 29 characters.
- Missing information when creating a QuickBooks Customer/Vendor: If we had an individual entry with no company name when we added this entry as QuickBooks Customer/Vendor, the Company field in the Add QuickBooks Customer or Vendor dialog was blank and the user had to enter some information manually to this field (proper message prompted if left blank). This issue has been resolved and the company field is populated with the first name, middle name and last name as the default values.
- MTI's flag not working properly: The MTI functionality for flag 128 when UDF duplicate checking was performed did not work.

- User-Defined Field Order Synchronization: When you changed the order of a user-defined field in the user-defined field list on a MaxExchange Server and synchronized to your remotes, the order was not changed on the remotes.

Changes: |
- Incorrect Address Book Entries Sent in Refresh: Address Book entries associated with remotes were not sent properly when a refresh was sent from the server after the MaxExchange server was upgraded to version 8 from version 7.5. The cause of the issue was related to the server incorrectly determining that the remotes had been upgraded to version 8; the remotes had not yet been upgraded.
- Missing Email Addresses for Remotes for Pervasive Users: For Pervasive users only, email addresses were missing for MaxExchange remotes using the email transport method after the server was upgraded to version 8.
- Incorrect Distribution Assignment for Remotes: An issue with MaxExchange remote distribution assignment occurred after upgrading a Pervasive Address Book to a SQL Address Book. In addition to fixing the issue in this hot fix, an item called Import Pervasive Distribution Groups has been added to the File menu in MaxExchange Site Manager to allow the administrator to retrieve the distribution assignment from the original Pervasive file.
- Error Code 51 Messages on Remotes: When launching a MaxExchange remote after upgrading to version 8, the remote receives Error Code 51 messages. This issue was related to the synchronized Address Book not yet being upgraded on the remote.
- MaxExchange Site Manager and Server Manager Start-Up: MaxExchange Site Manager and MaxExchange Server Manager would start and then exit when an Address Book was upgraded from Pervasive to SQL. This issue was related to data not being properly converted.
- Remote Users Prompted for MASTER's Password: MaxExchange remote users were prompted for the MASTER's password when attempting to upgrade an Address Book.
- Incorrect Search Results in Pervasive Address Book: Search by City/Town, State/County/Province, Zip/Postcode, and All Phone Numbers did not return the correct results in a Pervasive Address Book.
- Multiple Draft Email Incorrectly Appearing in Outbox: Multiple draft versions of an email appeared in the Outlook Outbox. In order for this to occur, the email must have been created using Maximizer's Compose Email dialog box, with the "AutoSave unsent email every "x" minutes in Inbox" option selected in Maximizer Email preferences.
- MaxExchange Remote Server & Remotes Connected to Server: MaxExchange remote servers and the associated remotes were incorrectly connected to the parent server after an Address Book was upgraded from Pervasive to SQL.
- Distribution Lists Not Rebuilt for Pervasive Users: Remote sites may have experienced problems with their distribution lists (DRB files) not being rebuilt when Address Book Maintenance was performed at the server. This hot fix addresses this problem, however, Address Book Maintenance should be performed after installing the hot fix to rebuild the distribution list. When Address Book Maintenance is performed, you must select the "Right Now" and "Do Not Create Maintenance Data Packets" options.
