Changes:

  • Error Message Starting Maximizer Enterprise - When starting Maximizer Enterprise 5.5, certain conditions can cause one of the following error messages: "Maxwin caused an Invalid Page Fault..." or "Access Violation...". The problem is likely being caused by two files -- CALWIN32.DLL and CLNWINTH.DLL-- that belong to the Novell IntranetWare client. These files are used for IPX/SPX networking and are also installed by the Hewlett Packard Jetadmin client. The Jetadmin client will install these files even if the IPX/SPX protocol isn't present on a computer.

If these files are present, the Pervasive.SQL 2000 requester will attempt a test connection over the IPX/SPX protocol. If older versions of these files are present, an access violation error will occur when the connection is initiated.

This error will also occur if these files are present on a workstation that doesn't have the IPX/SPX protocol installed.

This access violation error will prevent the Pervasive.SQL requester from establishing a successful server connection and will cause Maximizer Enterprise 5.5 to generate one of the above listed error messages.

MAXIMIZER ODBC
  • Improved Year 2000 Compliance Using Simba 5.2 - The new Maximizer Enterprise ODBC driver makes use of the Simba Engine 5.2, which results in improved year 2000 compliance. Data sources using an earlier Maximizer Enterprise ODBC driver had to be created with the "True Date" option off. True Date can now be on, which allows for better "Y2K" compliance.

  • True Date Field Option - This new option allows you to represent date-based data with a true date format field. Previous versions of the ODBC Driver represented date-based data as a specially formatted text string. The default setting for this option is off. To turn the option on, check the True Date field check box accessible from the Maximizer Enterprise ODBC Driver Setup Options dialog. The option can be set for each individual data source. If the option is turned on, then you must re-attach the following ODBC tables: Address, Appointments, Client, Company, Hotlist, Notes, People, OppActivity, Opportunity, OppStep, Combined_Client_User_Fields, Combined_Opp_User_Fields, < All date UDF tables >

  • Mr_Mrs Field Option - This new option allows the MR/MS field to be represented as MR_MS. The / in most programming languages is a reserved character. Therefore, MR/MS had to be surrounded by []in the past in programs, and in SQL statements. MR_MS as a field name would not have this problem and so would be more convenient. The default setting for this option is off. To turn the option on, check the MR_MS field check box accessible from the Maximizer ODBC Driver Setup Options dialog. The option can be set for each individual data source. If the option is turned on, then you must re-attach the following ODBC tables: Client, People

  • Security Improved for Opportunity User-defined Fields - An issue existed where the list of opportunity user-defined fields was readable even without sufficient security to access opportunities. This issue has been corrected.

  • Miscellaneous Improvements - As of this release, the Maximizer Enterprise ODBC driver features enhanced support for these products and technologies: ADO (Active Data Objects), Microsoft Foundation Class 5.0, Visual Studio 6.0, Visual Basic 6.0, Office 2000 (including Access and Excel 2000), Crystal Reports 7.0, PowerBuilder 6.5, and ASP (Active Server Pages).

  • Microsoft Access Error Message - You may encounter the following error message "Couldn't execute query; couldn't find linked table" if you:
    a) Created a new user-defined field in Maximizer Enterprise and did not exit and restart Microsoft Access.
    b) You do not have sufficient Maximizer Enterprise user rights to insert, modify, or delete the table you have attached. NOTE: After making the necessary changes, exit and restart the ODBC-compatible application you are using.

  • Select Unique Identifier in MS Access 7.0 - If you are using Microsoft Access 7.0, 97, and 2000, you will be asked to select a unique record identifier when attaching the tables Combined_Client_User_Fields and Combined_Opp_User_Fields. These are read-only tables, and therefore this step is not required. You should choose Cancel in the Select Unique Record Identifier dialog.

  • PowerBuilder Performance Issue - PowerBuilder users should turn off the internal dynamic binding for better performance results.

Maximizer Enterprise 2000 v5.5 Service Release 1 - Series 949
Released on December 3rd, 1999

Type of Release: Service Release
PSN Prefix: 01863
Files Modified: All
Changes: Installation & Configuration changes made to this release

Changes:

  • Graphing of Opportunity User-defined Fields - The graphing feature in Maximizer Enterprise has been enhanced to allow you to graph user-defined fields attached to opportunities. When graphing from the Opportunities window, any opportunity user-defined fields that you have in your Address Book folder will appear in the list of fields to graph.

  • Support for Customized Interface without Integrator's Toolkit - Maximizer Enterprise now reads customization information from the Address Book folder even if Maximizer Integrator's Toolkit has not been installed. In order to perform the customization for an Address Book folder, you must have Maximizer Integrator's Toolkit installed. When you change the interface, Maximizer Enterprise writes the information to the "Custom.dat" file in your Address Book folder. Maximizer Enterprise now reads the customization data in this file regardless of whether or not the Integrator's Toolkit has been installed. You could, for example, customize the Maximizer Enterprise interface for all workstations on a network.

  • Maximizer Toolbar in WordPefect - An issue exists regarding the Maximizer toolbar in WordPerfect. In some cases, the icons in the Maximizer toolbar appear to have a background with a color that is different than the default (e.g., pink, rather than gray). Although the color is incorrect, it does not affect the functionality of the toolbar buttons in any way.

  • User-defined Fields in MTI File Specification - Two issues have been fixed regarding the MTI file specification and user-defined fields. The issues were as follows:
    1. If < NUMERIC-x > immediately preceded <DATE-y> in an MTI specification where x < 10, the number of decimal places imported for the numeric user-defined field was incorrect.
    2. If you chose the "2" Option Flag, (update instead of adding to table UDFs), and an update was called for on a user-defined field (whether or not it was a table), then this user-defined field was deleted for all contacts with the given client number. Both of these issues have been resolved with this release.

  • Synchronization with the Microsoft Outlook 2000 Calendar - An issue has been fixed regarding the synchronization between the Maximizer Enterprise Calendar and the calendar in Microsoft Outlook 2000. In some cases, appointment synchronization between the two applications did not perform as expected. This issue has been resolved with this release.

  • Restoring an Address Book Folder after Converting to Version 5.5 - An issue was discovered regarding an Address Book folder that was originally created with an earlier version of Maximizer or Maximizer Enterprise. If you converted an Address Book folder from Maximizer 3.0, Maximizer 97is, or Maximizer Enterprise 3.0is using Maximizer Enterprise 5.5, then backed up and restored the Address Book folder with Maximizer Enterprise 5.5, the Notes entries were not being restored correctly. This issue has been fixed with this release.
