Maximizer Exchange 9

MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Pack 1 for Service Release 2 – 1649
Released December 11, 2006

Type of Release: Service Pack
PSN Prefix: N/A
Files Modified: Spdm.exe; Meclient.exe; distlist.exe

Issues Resolved by Service Pack 1:
  • Column Setup Settings Not Synchronizing Properly
When a user selected certain column setups on a Pervasive.SQL database and then synchronized to a Microsoft SQL database, some Maximizer windows may not have opened in the Microsoft SQL database. In addition, some user drop-down lists may have appeared incomplete.

  • Favorite List Settings Not Synchronizing Properly
When a user specified certain Favorite Lists on a Pervasive.SQL database to be retrieved in the Address Book window or the Customer Service window upon startup of Maximizer, and then synchronized the settings to a SQL database, Maximizer may have closed unexpectedly.

  • Opportunities Not Synchronizing Properly
This issue occurred when the remote was not upgraded to Maximizer Enterprise 9 Service Release 2 - Series 1635. Under certain circumstances, when a user added a new opportunity on a MaxExchange Remote running a Pervasive.SQL database and modified the selected team, the opportunity may not have synchronized properly to a MaxExchange Server running a Microsoft SQL database.

MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 2 - Series 1635
Released on October 8th, 2006

Type of Release: Service Release
PSN Prefix: N/A
Files Modified: Spdm.exe; Melib.dll; Maxexsql.dll; distlist.exe; Meclient.exe; AboutMaximizer.dll; MaxExchEvents.exe

Issues Resolved by Service Release 2:
  • Key Value Generation Problem
An issue may result regarding key value generation when creating new Distribution Sites and Teams from MaxExchange Site Manager. These entries may not be saved to the SQL database. In addition, some types of entries such as Favorite Lists, Column Setups, and Strategies may not be synchronized properly from a Pervasive database to a SQL database.

  • Simultaneously Modified Notes and Documents Not Updated
Simultaneously modified notes and documents on remotes and servers may not have been updated properly after synchronization.

  • MaxExchange Server Closes After Delete
Under certain circumstances, MaxExchange Server would close after an Address Book entry was deleted on a remote and synchronized to the server.

  • OrderDesk Fields Removed from Remote
Under certain circumstances, modified OrderDesk fields on a remote were removed after processing the next packet from the server.

  • Related Entries Not Synchronized
If an Address Book entry had more than one related entry, only one entry would appear in the Related Entries tab after sending a refresh to a remote.

  • Global Edit Changes Not Synchronized Properly
When using global edit on a remote to make changes to mandatory table user-defined field items using the "Replace table field values" rule, values for these fields were not synchronized to the server properly; both the new value and the old value appeared in the field.

  • Opportunity Document Cannot be Opened
When an opportunity had a large document and a refresh was sent to a remote, the file could not be opened on the remote.

MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Hot Fix 1 for Service Release 1 - Series 1605
Released on January 30th, 2006

Type of Release: Hot Fix
PSN Prefix: N/A
Files Modified: distlist.exe, Meclient.exe

Issues Addressed by Hot Fix 1 for Service Release 1:
GENERAL:
  • Under some circumstances, MaxExchange remotes would send an unusually large packet to the MaxExchange server. This large packet might have contained records that already existed in the Address Book on the server, and processing this packet on the server could create duplicate column setup records on both the server and the remotes.
MODIFIED UPGRADE BEHAVIOR:
  • New upgrade behavior of the server and remote takes place after applying this hot fix as follows:

Immediately after MaxExchange Server is started by launching MaxExchange Server Manager or rebooting the machine where the MaxExchange Service is installed, at least two packets are created for each remote and are saved in a folder called Upgrade (under the Outbox\[HEX Address Book ID] folder). Additional packets may be created as well depending on whether or not the server has additional transactions for the remote. The first packet contains information that sends a request to the remote for information added on the remote during the upgrade process. The second packet contains any other transactions, if applicable.

In mixed-mode environments (where the server and remotes are running different versions of MaxExchange), only updates and deletions from a remote that has not been upgraded yet are processed by the server. Additions are discarded until the remote upgrades. After a remote has upgraded, it sends a packet to the server and once that is processed, the packets in the Upgrade folder are sent to the remote and the Upgrade folder is deleted on the server. After the remote has processed the packet from the server, it creates a packet for the server containing information that was added on the remote during the time the mixed-mode environment was running.

Note:The upgrade behavior described above varies from the information described in the MaxExchange Administrators Guide in the second bullet point on page 23 under the Upgrading from Previous Versions of MaxExchange section.

When MaxExchange Server starts, the first packet creation process begins even before logging into MaxExchange Server Manager as the Master user.

MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 1 - Series 1552
Released on January 10th, 2006

Type of Release: Service Release
PSN Prefix: N/A
Files Modified: N/A

Issues Resolved:
  • Improved MaxExchange performance when modifying or deleting team members of an opportunity.
  • Problems synchronizing the Relationship Type field for related Address Book entries.
  • When refreshing a single Address Book entry with the diagnostic tools and then processing the packet on the remote, opportunities related to the Address Book entry were removed from the remote.
  • Changing the status of opportunities could cause some strategy activities to be lost during synchronization.
  • When a team member associated with a remote was removed from an opportunity, the opportunity wouldn't be removed from the remote.
  • Refreshing a single Address Book entry with the diagnostic tools would remove opportunity appointments related to that Address Book entry.
  • Sending a refresh to a remote sometimes created too many transactions for user-defined fields, which resulted in larger packets.
  • There was no user interface for updating the Live Update URL in Local Address Book on MaxExchange remotes. This issue has been resolved. MaxExchange Remotes can now update the Live Update URL through File > Preferences > System Defaults tab > Live Update Setup button in Maximizer.
  • Problems reassigning opportunity leader or strategy activities to other team members.
  • On MaxExchange Remote with a FAT32-formatted hard drive, packet processing terminated unexpectedly or displayed the "Queuing up for processing" status message.
  • After changing a personal appointment to be related to an Address Book entry, customer service case, or opportunity, the update would not synchronize.
